Ayatullah Khamenei Says Iran Is Neither Optimistic Nor Pessimistic About Oman Talks
He noted that the decision to engage in talks was well-executed, and future steps should consider both Iran’s and the opposing parties’ clear red lines.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Ayatullah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, stated that Iran is neither optimistic nor pessimistic about the negotiations held with the US in Oman. He emphasized that the resolution of the country's issues should not be linked to the outcome of these talks.
In a meeting with Iranian cabinet members, representatives of Parliament, senior judicial officials, and heads of several organizations in Tehran on Tuesday, April 15, Ayatullah Khamenei discussed the ongoing negotiations. He referred to the talks in Oman as one of the many tasks handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Nation's Progress Must Not Depend on Talks
Ayatullah Khamenei stressed that the nation's affairs should not be dependent on the negotiations in Oman. He warned against repeating the mistake made during the talks that led to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), where the country's progress was tied to the outcome of the negotiations. This created a conditional situation that hindered investment and development.
The Leader emphasized the importance of continuing activities across various sectors, such as industry, economy, construction, culture, and major national projects. He affirmed that none of these matters are connected to the Oman talks.

Leader Cautions Against Overly Optimistic or Pessimistic Views on Oman Negotiations
While Ayatullah Khamenei acknowledged the ongoing negotiations, he cautioned against being overly optimistic or pessimistic. He noted that the decision to engage in talks had been well-executed, and future steps should be taken with precision, keeping in mind that both Iran’s and the opposing parties’ red lines are clearly defined.
He stated that while these talks may or may not yield results, Iran maintains a cautious stance. Despite expressing distrust toward the opposing parties, Ayatullah Khamenei reaffirmed his confidence in Iran’s capabilities.
Condemnation of Zionist Atrocities in Gaza
Ayatullah Khamenei condemned the deliberate attacks on innocent people in Gaza, including patients, journalists, ambulances, hospitals, and women and children. He described these actions as unprecedented crimes that reflect extraordinary cruelty, which the occupying regime possesses.
Call for Coordinated Islamic Movement
Ayatullah Khamenei called for a coordinated movement from the Islamic world in economic, political, and, if necessary, operational domains. He emphasized that while divine justice will prevail against the oppressors, governments and nations must still fulfill their heavy responsibilities.
Counteracting Sanctions through Domestic Investment
In another part of his remarks, Ayatullah Khamenei highlighted the importance of domestic investment in production as the most effective strategy to counteract sanctions. He stated that while lifting sanctions is beyond Iran’s control, neutralizing their impact through various internal capacities is achievable. This approach would make the country invulnerable to sanctions.
Expanding Relations with Neighboring Countries
Ayatullah Khamenei also emphasized the significance of expanding relations with neighboring countries, economic hubs in Asia and Africa, and other nations. He urged continued efforts in pursuing this direction.
At the end of the meeting, Ayatullah Khamenei commended the Iranian president’s engagement with other heads of state and the effective activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, describing them as very good and impactful. (PW)
