TEHRAN, February 13 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kan'ani has slammed the illegal act of the United States in the seizure of a Venezuelan plane.The Iranian senior diplomat's reaction came after Washington's decision to illegally seize a Boeing 747 cargo plane belonging to Venezuela.

Kan'ani described the seizure as illegitimate and a form of hijacking which represents US unilateralism and how it violated the United Nations charter and international law.

The Islamic Republic of Iran declares its firm support for the efforts and legal and diplomatic measures of Venezuela in order to restore the ownership and access to the assets and properties of this country, he added.

Venezuela’s government has condemned the seizure of its plane by the US, calling it illegal and a clear act of theft.
