TEHRAN, April 15 (MNA) – Iran's Foreign Minister and his Indian counterpart held a phone conversation on Sunday night to discuss regional developments.During a phone call with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Monday, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian urged the Indian government to continue playing an active role through international organizations, such as the United Nations, to help stop the war in Gaza which the Iranian diplomat believes that this conflict is the root cause of the ongoing crises in the region.

Amir-Abdollahian also provided his Indian counterpart with some information regarding its retaliatory attack on the Israeli regime.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he reiterated Iran's desire for a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and the establishment of peace and security in the area stretching from the Mediterranean coast to the Red Sea.

Jaishankar, for his part, emphasized the importance of reducing tensions and resolving disputes to improve the situation in the region.

He expressed concern about the well-being of the 17 Indian crew members on a ship that was seized by Iran and requested Tehran's assistance in this regard.

Amir-Abdollahian stated that Iranian officials are following up on the details of the seized ship and it will be possible for Indian government representatives to meet with the vessel's crew soon.
