Rahshan Saglam Press TV, Istanbul Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan rejected US suggestion of a ceasefire in northeastern Syria ahead of a visit for American vice president Mike pence on Wednesday.  Turkish president vowed that he would not declare a ceasefire in northeast Syria, adding his country will not sit for talks with what he called a terrorist group, meaning the People’s Protection Units YPG  US vice president will arrive to Turkey along with secretary of state Mike Pompeo and other Pentagon officials on Wednesday with the main goal of convincing Ankara to declare ceasefire.  Erdogan said he is not going to talk to the American delegation and they would hold talks with their counterparts.  US president Donald Trump reiterated Tuesday that Washington was calling for a ceasefire and appeared to threaten even more sanctions if one could not be reached.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said his country will retaliate against US sanctions over Ankara's military operation.

He added that ties between Ankara and Washington are at a QUOTE-critical juncture.

He said he would convey the message to a US delegation.

Many observers here believe that a negotiation should be held between Turkey and Syria as the only solution to the current conflict.
