A massive fire erupted on Wednesday in Kobayat are in northern Lebanon, devoured swathes of forestry lands. The local residents urged the concerned apparatuses to intervene and extinguish the fire before reaching their houses. The Civil Defense firefighters and Army units started immediately fighting the fire and evacuating the residents besieged in their houses.

NNA reported the death of volunteer Amin M of an injury to the head he sustained while helping put out the fire in the town of Kafrtoun.

President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, followed up on the development of the fires that broke out today in Akkar, especially in Kobayat and Bennu.

President Aoun asked the Army Command and Civil Defense to make every effort to extinguish fires and prevent them from spreading to homes, and to help the people.

In addition, President Aoun gave his directives, that if fires develop, to seek the help of the Cypriot state to help put them out.
