Jenin became a battlefield on Wednesday as Israeli occupation forces raided the camp and laid siege on the house of martyr Raad Hazem, the hero who carried out Dizengoff attack in Tel Aviv last April.

The surprise raid killed five Palestinians, including brother of martyr Hazem, as well as injured many others, Palestinian and Israeli media reported.

Large number of occupation forces attacked Jenin in a surprise raid, accompanied by a bulldozer, prompting clashes with Palestinians who rushed to defend the camp against Israeli aggression.

The Jenin Battalion, the local branch of Islamic Jihad’s Al-Quds Brigades, stated that its fighters confronted the Israeli attack, opening heavy fire on the occupation forces and their vehicles in the vicinity of Jenin camp.

Occupation forces surrounded the house of Raad Hazem's family, the Palestinian young man who killed three Israelis in Tel Aviv Dizengoff Street last April.

They bombed the house with an anti-armor missile, Palestinian media reported, adding that flames and smoke were seen in the area, amid an intense flight of Israeli reconnaissance drones over the camp.

Avichai Adraee, a spokesperson for the Israeli occupation army, said in a press statement that 'army forces and special units moved under the direction of the General Security Service (Shin Bet) to arrest two wanted men and surrounded the house they hid in.' Palestinian Health Ministry initially identified three of the Palestinian martyrs as Ahmad Alawneh, Abdul Rahman Hazem and Mohammad Alouna.

It reported that 16 Palestinians others were injured, noting that at least two of the wounded were in serious condition.

Al-Manar correspondent then reported that the number of martyrs rose to five, with two of the injured apparently succumbing to wounds.
