Lebanon condemned on Saturday the Israeli attack against the Palestinians in occupied Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa, calling on international community to take immediate action to deter such violations.

In a statement, Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates likened attempts by Israeli settlers to displace residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood before the very eyes of the entire world to practices of ethnic cleansing.

The statement also condemned the occupation forces' storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the “brutal attack on innocent worshipers with stun grenades, gas and rubber bullets, in a flagrant violation of human rights and international laws and covenants.” In this context, the Lebanese ministry called on “the international community to take urgent and immediate action to deter the repeated assaults of the Israeli enemy against the brotherly Palestinian people and the Al-Aqsa Mosque,” It stressed the need to confront the continued Israeli intransigence and stop the Israeli settlement and displacement activities in the occupied city of Al-Quds.

Finally, the ministry renewed 'Lebanon's solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people,' affirming its right to establish an independent Palestinian state, on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative issued in Beirut in 2002.
