Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said the high turnout of voters in the upcoming presidential election will bring glory to Iran and disappoint the enemies.

On the occasion of Eid Al-Ghadeer and in the lead-up to the fourteenth presidential election, thousands of Iranians from five provinces across the Islamic Republic met with Imam Khamenei in Tehran on Tuesday, Tasnim news agency media reported.

The Leader called on the Iranian nation to choose the best candidate and to have maximum participation in the upcoming presidential election, which is slated to be held on June 28.

“The honor of the Iranian nation in the upcoming elections is linked to two issues, a maximum participation and voting for the most qualified.

The most important impact of a high turnout, which we insist on so much, is that it brings honor to the Islamic Republic.”

'The Islamic Republic has enemies, one of the things that make the Islamic Republic win over its enemies is elections.

If there is a favorable participation of the people in this election, this is a source of pride for the Islamic Republic.' “We insist on high participation in the elections, and the most important effect of high turnout is the elevation of the Islamic Republic,” Imam Khamenei said in remarks carried by Al-Manar.

He urged the Iranian nation to utilize its capabilities including human capacity and wealth.

Even the youngest members of the society can be effective in the destiny of the country, his eminence stressed.

“Iranian nation won’t allow others to decide their fate,” Imam Khamenei affirmed.

“The Islamic Republic has proven that it can advance without relying on foreigners and enemies.

Iran’s strength doesn’t lie only in missiles, but also in the high voter turnout.” Iran will hold presidential elections on June 28, following the martyrdom of President Ebrahim Raisi and his entourage in a helicopter crash in May Tuesday’s event titled the 'Wilayat and Brotherhood' was attended by people from the provinces of Gilan, Markazi, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, North Khorasan, as well as the families of martyrs and the khadims (caretakers) of the Holy Shrine of Ahmad Ibn Musa (Shahcheragh) in Fars province, according to Tasnim .

The ceremony commenced with recitations and eulogies of Imam Ali (PBUH) at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah of Tehran.

In the Islamic culture, a special holiday titled “Eid al-Ghadir' is marked on the 18th of the eleventh month of Dhu l-Hijja in the Arabic calendar.

This day is a reminder of the time when, according to hadiths, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) appointed Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) as the Imam after himself following an order from God.
