By Staff Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei has praised the Iranian nation’s “shining” performance in the fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic, which he described as a "test” facing the entire world. Imam Khamenei made the comments in a live televised speech on Thursday, marking the birthday anniversary of Imam Mahdi [PBUH], the Twelfth and last Shia Imam, in which he congratulated the Islamic nation on the blessed occasion.

Imam Khamenei said that the humanity, which is suffering from poverty, injustice and class differences, is in need of a divine power and an infallible Imam to save it.

Today mankind, given various premises and stripes, still didn’t reach a level of safety and justice, Imam Khamenei said, noting that the awaited Imam is part of establishing total justice.

“Everyone is waiting for the fulfillment of this divine promise, and for that reason we have been asked to wait.

Waiting reflects hope.” His Eminence pointed out that waiting for relief resembles hope and takes the person out of despair: “Waiting embeds willingness and taking the necessary steps to create a society that belongs to Imam Mahdi [AS].” “Imam Mhadi’s society is that of justice, equality, brotherhood, knowledge and pride.” Reflecting that in the current circumstances, psychological stability and reassurance require prayers, supplication and solemnity, Imam Khamenei noted that relief comes after hardship and difficulties.

Commenting on Coronavirus Pandemic, His Eminence stressed that it is an important test for all governments and peoples.

Relatively, Imam Khamenei praised the efforts and sacrifices of medical staff at the level of doctors, nurses and lab technicians, adding that the Iranian people glinted in dealing with the epidemic, which is considered a modern one.

“The sacrifices of the medical team will always remain in the minds and memories.

They will never be erased.” Relatedly, Imam Khamenei hailed the Iranian Armed Forces which have used all the available capabilities in the scientific, research and construction fields to combat Covid-19.

“The people’s participation was good and valuable in battling Coronavirus,” His Eminence added.

Adding to the level of cooperation in fighting the new disease, Imam Khamenei stressed that the popular participation confirms the depth of Islamic culture and its firmness among the Iranian people.

The Iranian people have shown a great commitment to measures and decisions, Imam Khamenei said.

Meanwhile, he lashed out at the Western culture that was embodied in the confrontation with Coronavirus by emptying shops, seizing imported masks and acquiring weapons.

“The product of the Western intellectual system became clear after the greed the world has witnessed.” Coronavirus is a major problem and a grave threat to the humanity, Imam Khamenei said, noting that Iran and the world have previously witnessed many dilemmas which were more dangerous than it.

Iran was attacked by Saddam’s regime with chemical weapons and millions were killed in the two world wars.

In the battle with Covid -19, we should not forget the conspiracies of the arrogant forces, Imam Khamenei noted, recommending that we shouldn’t miss worship and supplication in the blessed month of Ramadan at homes and among our families.

Imam Khamenei suggested that mass gatherings in the Islamic Republic may be barred through the holy Muslim fasting month amid the coronavirus pandemic.
