International Monetary Fund chief Kristalina Georgieva said Friday that the global economy, including the United States, has entered a recession amid the spread of the new coronavirus.

'It is now clear that we have entered a recession as bad or worse' than that seen in the aftermath of the 2008 global financial crisis, she said at a press conference.

But she added, 'We do project recovery in 2021.'
