TEHRAN, January 20 (MNA) – Donald Trump has begun a second term as president of the United States on Monday, as the world braces itself for the return of an unpredictable leader.

The inauguration ceremony in Washington, DC was attended by outgoing President Joe Biden, Argentine President Javier Milei, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and others.

The swearing-in marked the culmination of a four-year journey for Trump, whom many Republicans distanced themselves from following the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, but nonetheless supported during his third campaign for the White House.

Trump’s running mate, JD Vance of Ohio, was sworn in as vice president.
