TEHRAN, March 06 (MNA) – Iran’s youth water polo team earned a hard-fought win over Kazakhstan in Group B of the 11th Asian Age Group Championship underway in the Philippines.In the third match of the sporting event, Iran and Kazakhstan equalized 9-9 at the end of the match, and the penalty shootouts determined which team to win the title.

Iran’s youth water polo team defeated Kazakhstan 3-1 on penalty shootouts.

Previously in the tournament, Iran thrashed Malaysia 34-3 and humiliated Sri Lanka 34-0.

In the fourth match, Iran will face Singapore on Thursday.

The teams that make up Group B are Iran, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, and Singapore.

Meanwhile, Group A consists of Japan, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, China, and Thailand.

The tournament has attracted around 1,000 athletes from 25 different countries.

The 11th Asian Age Group Championships consist of four aquatic disciplines, which are swimming, diving, water polo, and artistic swimming.

The Asian Age Group Championship is underway at the New Clark City Aquatics Center in Capas, Tarlac, the Philippines from February 26 to March 9, 2024.
