But this time Charlotte’s message had a distinctly personal touch, the voice of a powerless bereaved mother reaching out to the most powerful man in the world, once Biden takes office on Wednesday (20 January).  “Please President Biden help me to restart to rebuild my life.

Please send Anne Sacoolas back to the UK to face our justice system”, Charlotte pleaded with Biden.

Harry, 19, was killed in August 2019 after former US spy, Anne Sacoolas, crashed into his motorbike outside RAF Croughton in Northamptonshire, which houses a US spy base.

Sacoolas was driving on the wrong side of the road at the time, a point that was raised by Charlotte in her emotional appeal.

However, Charlotte was careful to personalize her message to incoming President Biden by avoiding the complex politics surrounding the case.

“We are not vengeful people.

We are a very very regular family that just miss … I miss my son”, a distraught Charlotte Charles told Biden.

“I still haven’t been able to piece together the last two to three hours of my son’s life”, she added.
