TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi explained the reason behind Tehran’s decision to reply to the US president’s letter via the Sultanate of Oman. - Politics news - Speaking to Tasnim in Tehran on Friday, Araqchi said Iran decided to send its reply to the US president’s letter via Oman because the sultanate had played the same role in the past.Oman had acted as an intermediary amid the negotiations on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and also during the interactions that had taken place in the tenure of late Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi, the foreign minister stated.“We have a good experience of (working with) Oman.

We trust Oman’s goodwill.

Good relations prevail between the two countries (Iran and Oman).

There is a mutual understanding in the bilateral relations,” Araqchi said, adding that such conditions made Oman a natural choice for sending the reply to the USThe foreign minister stated that the US’ letter contained threats, which received Iran’s proportional response, and also kept a door open for diplomacy.

“We have not closed and won’t close any path to diplomacy either.

However, we have doubts about the intentions of the other side (the US) and have heard contradictory comments from them.”While Iran considers every window to diplomacy with skepticism, it will seize any opportunity available, Araqchi stressed.
