TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi expressed optimism about recent steps taken to improve bilateral relations and emphasized the need for continued efforts to fully restore ties. - Politics news - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the sidelines of the D-8 summit, expressing gratitude for Egypt's hosting and organization of the event.Pezeshkian highlighted the importance of utilizing the capacities of Islamic nations within regional and international frameworks such as the D-8 and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).He stressed that strengthening unity and cohesion among Islamic nations is the most pressing need for the Muslim world today."All Islamic countries must contribute to fostering dialogue and cooperation within the Muslim community to overcome existing differences, as these divisions create opportunities for foreign interference," Pezeshkian stated.The Iranian president also underlined the necessity of enhancing economic cooperation and maintaining dialogue between Iran and Egypt.Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, addressing recent regional developments, pointed to significant threats arising from events in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.He described Israel's recent attacks in Syria as unprecedented and reiterated Egypt’s stance on Syria.

"Our position is the formation of an inclusive government in Syria," el-Sisi said.During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the positive steps taken in recent months toward improving bilateral ties and voiced hope for their full restoration.Following his participation in the D-8 summit and discussions on the situations in Gaza and Lebanon, President Pezeshkian returned to Tehran late Thursday.During the visit, Pezeshkian met with the presidents of Egypt and Turkey, Pakistan's prime minister, and the Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation.
