TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian and Egyptian foreign ministers weighed plans for concerted efforts by the influential regional countries to put an end to the Israeli regime’s aggression and prevent an escalation of tensions. - Politics news - In a meeting on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting of the D8 countries, held in Cairo on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty talked about a range of bilateral and regional issues.Araqchi expressed gratitude to Egypt for its hospitality and success in hosting the D8 meeting, hoping that the D8 Summit would achieve results benefiting the developing Islamic countries and the Muslim world.The two senior diplomats emphasized the significant and influential roles and stances of Iran and Egypt in the region and the Islamic world, highlighting the need for increased cooperation among the D8 member states, particularly in the economic sectors.Araqchi expressed hope for Egypt's effective presidency in revitalizing and activating the D8 organization and voiced Iran's readiness to assist Egypt in this regard.Araqchi and Abdelatty further discussed the regional developments, focusing on the expansion of the scope of the Zionist regime’s aggressions from Gaza and Lebanon to Syria.The two ministers stressed the need for regional cooperation, especially between Iran and Egypt, to halt the Israeli aggressions and prevent further tensions.They also underscored the necessity to continue efforts to stop the Israeli genocidal crimes against Palestinians and deliver immediate humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.The two ministers also discussed bilateral issues of mutual interest.
