US special envoy Amos Hochstein said on Wednesday he will head for the Zionist entity to discuss efforts to achieve a ceasefire between Lebanon and the Israeli enemy, citing progress in the two-day discussions in Beirut.

Following a second meeting with Lebanese Speaker Berri on Wednesday, Hochstein said he will pass on what had been reached with Lebanese officials.

“The meeting today built on the meeting yesterday, and made additional progress,” the US envoy told reporters in Speaker Berri’s residence in Ain Al-Tineh.

'So I will travel from here in a couple of hours to Israel to try to bring this to a close if we can,' he told added.

Hochstein was initially expected in the Zionist entity today after meeting with Lebanon’s leadership yesterday in talks that he described as “constructive.”

However, he remained in Lebanon today to discuss “technical details” of a ceasefire proposal that could bring an end to the Israeli aggression that has killed more than 3,500 people in Lebanon since September 23.

The US envoy is expected to arrive in Tel Aviv on Wednesday night and will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to convey Lebanon's response to the draft of the ceasefire proposal, according to Israeli media.
