Press TV, Moscow President of Russia and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin attended the military parade marking the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945. Formations from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan marched in the Parade alongside Russian service personnel: 14 thousand military personnel, over 200 units of military equipment, 75 airplanes and helicopters.

The date of the parade coincides with the anniversary of the historic Victory Parade on Red Square in June 1945.

In an extraordinary article published a week earlier Putin criticized attempts at rewriting the history of World War II, making an impassioned effort to rebut Western criticism of Soviet behavior at the beginning of World War II, as well as to elucidate the sufferings and sacrifices of the Soviet people during the war.

In his statements before the Parade once again the president mentioned that despite unfriendly actions of the West to rewrite history, Russia is ready for dialogue and cooperation in creating a reliable global security system which swiftly changes contemporary world needs.

The Russian leader also pointed out that the countries can protect the world "against new dangerous threats" only if they act unanimously.

Victory Parades were held in almost all major cities of the country where situation allowed.

The Victory Parade , in solidarity with Russia was also held in Ukraine's Donetsk in Donbass region
