TEHRAN, April 24 (MNA) – Iranian foreign ministry's spokesman on Wednesday lambasted the United States government for its crackdown on the pro-Palestine protesters' at universities across the country.

"The widespread crackdown on students and arresting them at US universities because of their support for Palestinian people is in violation of the right to vote, freedom of expression and human rights and it stirs the concern of people around the world," Nasser Kan'ani said in a statement on Wednesday amid reports of US police crackdown on pro-Palestine protests at US universities.

The spokesman called on the US government to respect and ensure freedom of speech and human rights principles for the students and their professors at the rallies at the universities.

He further noted that Washington's support for the Zionist Israeli regime and its complicity in its genocide in Gaza cannot be hidden by suppressing the students and creating a repressive atmosphere at universities.
